Eve officially became the “first wife” the day she stepped out of Eden and began her new journey with her husband Adam. Imagine for a moment, being banished from your perfect home filled with an abundance of everything you could ever need and being placed in a field where you need to create your life from scratch. Adam was about to become the first farmer and Eve the first Farmer’s wife.
Adam and Eve may have been the first man and woman to walk earth, but they were human just as we are human. The struggles were just as real in those days as they are today. This being said, we can imagine what it was like for Eve all those years ago. We can even go further and say it was 1000x harder to be a farmer’s wife in Eve’s day, because technology was unheard of.
The Bible doesn’t give too many details on the daily life of Adam and Eve, but I think it’s safe to say they were your typical married couple. I can totally see Eve saying “No, you’re doing it all wrong” as Adam attempted to learn the skills of labor and farming. Let’s also not forget the “go wash up! The meal is ready” this must have been a daily saying for Eve as Adam was working the fields to provide for the meals she would prepare to eat each and every day.
We know that Eve was a controller. She liked to take control and ensure everything went as she visioned and/or expected.
Being a wife for Eve meant being a supporter, friend, helper, and most importantly the keeper of Adam’s heart. The Biblical role of being a wife started in the Garden when God said “Let us make man in our image” and Eve was the first woman to live out this role.
